September 1968
Head Ski announces plans to locate its sportswear manufacturing and distribution facilities in the Oakland Ridge Industrial Center on Red Branch Road.

September 1969
Antioch College opens a Field Study Center in Oakland Manor offering an alternative higher education experience. Antioch VP Morris Keeton moves to Columbia with wife Ruth to be dean.

September 1973
Columbia Medical Center, the 59 bed facility built to service the Columbia Medical Plan and later became Howard County General Hospital, is dedicated.

September 1978
Giant opens the largest supermarket in Columbia in the Giant-owned Owen Brown Village Center -- the only center not owned by Howard Research and Development.

September 1988
Columbia Association begins restoration of Oakland Manor transforming it into a premier public space.

September 2009
Ribbon cutting on September 24 marks opening of a five-story medical office building housing 13 medical practices adjacent to Howard County General Hospital.
